I am at a loss. Why is the USA not calling for a stop to the horrors occurring in Gaza? Why is the USA—our taxpayer dollars, no less—sending exorbitant amounts of money and military resources to Israel, when we have seen how this has played out for almost two years—and for much longer, before October 7th?
First and foremost, committing what is without question, a genocide, on a group of civilians just trying to live their lives is disgusting, inhumane, and immoral beyond belief. Netanyahu and the IDF have expressed their desire of wiping out Gaza and expanding the settlements numerous times now. There is no “reasoning” that can justify committing this insane level of mass harm to other humans, period. The folks in Gaza have not experienced dignity, food, clean water, and proper medical and educational resources in a very long time, and there are now over one hundred deaths via malnutrition and famine. The human rights violations alone are staggering, and time is running out for them. Aid is being withheld, when several reputable organizations’ trucks are ready with supplies, but are being halted by Israeli military, and the U.S. backed aid program appears to just be a baiting trap for Israeli soldiers to shoot and bomb starving people.
How does (a vast majority of) the world stage seem to see these apocalyptic images and videos, daily rising death counts, and be able to acknowledge how terrible it is, but the government officials in the USA are still in support of this cruelty?
As an American, I am ashamed and disgusted that my tax dollars are being used to arm this overwhelming death and destruction. It turns my stomach knowing that many thousands of women, children, peaceful aid organizers, medical practitioners, and journalists have been killed, or left with life altering injuries, by the bullets and bombs that the U.S. has directly funded.
I fear history will not remember us kindly for all we’ve already contributed, and turned a blind eye to, in this regard. You have the power to stand for decency, to stand for course correction and caring. Please, with your resources and position, do everything in your power and personhood, to stand up for HUMANITY, and demand an end to the suffering inflicted on the people of Gaza. Thank you for your time.
