I am writing as your constituent to express strong opposition to potential U.S. military involvement in attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. Recent reports indicate President Trump is considering ordering American forces to join Israeli strikes against Iran, which would have catastrophic consequences for our national security. The current six-day escalation between Israel and Iran demonstrates how quickly regional conflicts spiral out of control. Direct U.S. military intervention would transform a dangerous situation into full-scale war with a nation of 85 million people. Iran's Supreme Leader has warned of "irreparable damage" should America intervene militarily—threats we must take seriously given potential asymmetric warfare, proxy attacks on U.S. interests, and global energy market disruption. I am particularly concerned that military action is being considered while diplomatic channels remain open. Iran's foreign minister has expressed willingness to negotiate with U.S. representatives, including potentially meeting with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff or Vice President Vance. This suggests peaceful resolution remains possible, and we should exhaust diplomatic options before resorting to force. Military strikes on Iran would likely escalate conflict throughout the Middle East, put American service members at risk of retaliation, destabilize global oil markets, undermine international law, and inflame anti-American sentiment. The Iraq War demonstrated the enormous costs of Middle East military intervention. We cannot repeat those mistakes with an even more capable adversary. I urge you to publicly oppose any authorization for military action against Iran, advocate for immediate diplomatic engagement, demand the Administration consult Congress before taking military action, and support multilateral efforts to address Iran's nuclear program through negotiation. The American people deserve foreign policy that prioritizes diplomacy over warfare. I trust you will represent constituents like myself who believe war with Iran would be disastrous for our country and the world.
