I am writing today to speak out AGAINST putting a 400-megawatt data center in the middle of San Diego. According to emails obtained by Voice of San Diego, Manchester Financial is actively exploring building a 400 megawatt data center on a 70 acre parcel at NAVWAR, which was originally slated for housing. This is a densely populated area. A data center of this size would be incredibly noisy and the 24/7 noise could be audible up to a mile away. Furthermore, this would put additional strain on the electrical grid and SDGE customers would bear the costs, according to a recent hearing at the San Diego City Council, Data centers are bad for the environment and bad for human health. Since the proposed site is on federal land, only Congress can stop this. As my elected representative in Congress, I am asking you to block Manchester from building a data center on federal land in San Diego. Say NO to a data center in San Diego!!!
