I am writing to urge you to do everything you can to make sure that any peace plan for the Ukrainian war includes Ukraine and Ukrainian interests. It is vital that we not allow Russia to have hegemony over the region. If the United States of America deals directly with Russia is tantamount to saying that Russia is in charge of that region. The other nations do not have a voice. Given the power that Russia does wheeled over the former Soviet countries, it is important that the US act as a buffer to that influence. It will also send a terrible precedent if we allow Russia to gain from its unprovoked aggressive attacks on Ukraine, it has already gained power and influence in Georgia and other neighboring countries. We cannot allow countries to attack their neighbors, unprovoked and benefit from it. This will disrupt the international order.
