I am writing to urge your support for the SUCCESS for BEAD Act and its provisions that would allow BEAD funding to be used to expand Next-Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) infrastructure. Across Pennsylvania and the nation, public safety answering points are struggling to modernize systems that were never designed for today’s realities—text-to-911, multimedia data, precise location services, and cyber-resilient cloud architectures. Allowing BEAD funds to support NG9-1-1 would accelerate deployment of the broadband connectivity and redundancy required to ensure 9-1-1 keeps pace with the networks Americans rely on every day. Modern NG9-1-1 is not a luxury—it is essential for faster response times, improved interoperability among agencies, and greater resilience during disasters and large-scale emergencies. I respectfully ask that you champion the SUCCESS for BEAD Act and work to ensure that lifesaving 9-1-1 modernization is recognized as critical national infrastructure.
