An Open Letter

To: Sen. Gallego, Rep. Ciscomani, Sen. Kelly

From: A constituent in Tucson, AZ

April 15

Vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140 that would overturn critical protections for the Boundary Waters and create an appalling precedent for all American public lands. The Boundary Waters is the most visited wilderness in the U.S. This resolution would open the headwaters to toxic copper mining by a foreign company that sends its minerals overseas. We should not risk cherished American public lands for foreign gain. Waters from its watershed are some of the cleanest in America, and it is one of the most pristine freshwater ecosystems on the planet. The Boundary Waters support wildlife like moose, deer, black bears, wolves, mink, otters, and the common loon. It is one of the most accessible wilderness areas for recreation, and the region depends on this to power its economy, supporting over 17,000 American jobs. As your constituent, I am asking you to defend public lands and the American people by protecting the Boundary Waters and voting NO on House Joint Resolution 140. Thank you.
