Reckless War, Rhetoric, and Ruin: Impeach Trump
To: Sen. Moran, Sen. Marshall, Rep. Estes
From: A constituent in Wichita, KS
June 22
Donald Trump’s relentless disregard for the Constitution compels Congress to act. The evidence is overwhelming, the pattern unmistakable, and the stakes could not be higher. On June 21, Trump ordered the largest B-2 stealth bombing campaign in history, targeting Iran’s Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites. He boasted, “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran,” and threatened, “any future assaults will be far greater and a lot easier.” These attacks were carried out without Congressional authorization, violating Article 1 of the Constitution. Both parties in Congress and international leaders have condemned the strikes as reckless and illegal, warning of a spiral toward war. Iran has already retaliated, and the world stands on the brink—all because one man decided to bypass the law and the people’s representatives. In Minnesota, the nation watched in horror as a politically motivated assassin killed State Representative Melissa Hortman and wounded Senator John Hoffman. The suspect had a hit list of dozens of Minnesota Democrats, including Governor Tim Walz and members of Congress. Instead of offering unity or comfort, Trump sneered, “I think the governor of Minnesota is so whacked out. I’m not calling him. Why would I call him?” He refused to reach out, breaking the tradition of presidential leadership in times of tragedy. This is not leadership; it is callousness. Trump’s rhetoric is not just divisive—it is dangerous. For years, his words have fueled a movement that sees violence as justified. National security experts have labeled him the de facto leader of a violent extremist movement. The Minnesota shooter attended Trump rallies and targeted lawmakers who stood for democracy and reproductive rights. Trump’s lawlessness is systematic. He signed an executive order to end birthright citizenship, directly contradicting the 14th Amendment and over a century of legal precedent. He seized control of state National Guard units without governors’ consent, the first such act since 1965. He continues to fire tens of thousands of career civil servants, undermining the professional, nonpartisan government Americans depend on. Over 950 law professors have declared, “We are in a constitutional crisis.” Legal scholar Erwin Chemerinsky warns, “There have been so many unconstitutional and illegal actions… We never have seen anything like this.” Our greatest presidents led with courage and compassion. Lincoln said, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” Kennedy called us to “ask what you can do for your country.” Reagan reminded us, “How can we love our country and not love our countrymen… reach out a hand when they fall, heal them when they’re sick.” Trump does the opposite—he divides, he vilifies, he incites. Congress must act. The Constitution demands it. Our democracy depends on it. Impeach Donald Trump.
