Oppose the Save Act

To: Sen. Young, Sen. Banks

From: A constituent in Noblesville, IN

April 10

I am writing to urge you to oppose the 2025 SAVE Act. While intended to prevent noncitizen voting, this bill would impose unnecessary burdens on millions of eligible Americans by requiring documentary proof of citizenship—documents many citizens do not readily have. The legislation would also restrict online and mail-in voter registration, making it harder for people—especially young, elderly, low-income, and rural voters—to participate in our elections. Additionally, it threatens election officials with criminal penalties, which could lead to voter purges and administrative errors. There is no significant evidence of widespread noncitizen voting, and existing laws already protect the integrity of our elections. The SAVE Act would do more harm than good by disenfranchising legitimate voters. Please oppose this bill and support policies that expand, not restrict, access to the ballot.
