Investigate Pete Hegseth’s Investments Before the Iran War

To: Sen. Murray, Rep. Smith, Sen. Cantwell

From: A verified voter in Auburn, WA

April 11

I urge Congress to investigate potential conflicts of interest involving U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in the lead up to the conflict in Iran. Recent reports suggest that he may have improperly used knowledge about upcoming military action in Iran to invest in companies tied to military spending and conflict. If true, this calls into question the decisions and timing of military action. No one should be able to profit from their insider knowledge, especially not those in charge of American lives. Congress has a responsibility to provide oversight and investigate potential abuses. If members of the Cabinet or the president are improperly using their knowledge for personal financial gain, Congress must act.
