On Tuesday night, the president spoke. I avoided listening to the speech because I can’t stand the sound of his voice. But I did listen to several commentators and analyses the next day. I was horrified a couple of the clips I saw where his lying, he endlessly lies, but the stories he was telling about Social Security were so egregious. What was even worse was that all of you Republicans sat smiling clapping cheering his lies. I am the daughter of depression and World War II parents. My mother‘s family struggled during the depression. And she made it very clear how fortunate we Americans were and I hope will be to have Social Security. It is the president’s habit to troll to see how much of a response he can get and then turn the trolling into reality. He has been promising steadily. He would do nothing to touch Social Security and Medicare. But we can no longer trust him on anything. Because he’s not even capable of keeping tariffs in place for more than 36 hours??? I wanted to make it clear that if Republicans remain complicit and collaborate with him, then you will turn those of us who get SSI out into the streets and you will certainly turn out people in nursing homes out into the streets. Because we will have no homes for them to come back to. And then there will be all those mothers and children who don’t have resources for medical treatment. There won’t be enough food for those families. Please be very clear in your understandings that we Americans are paying attention. Those of us who did not vote for this person who is now in the oval office, we already knew what he would do. And Senator Tillis you are coming up for reelection in 2026. Unfortunately Senator Budd, we are stuck with you for I believe the next 5+ years. You have made it clear that you are completely in the presidents camp and are indifferent to the suffering of those people who voted for you. Fools that they were and are.
