You must intervene immediately to stop ICE from deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Liberia. This is persecution disguised as immigration enforcement.
The Trump administration wrongfully deported Abrego Garcia to El Salvador's CECOT mega-prison in March, violating a 2019 court order that barred his deportation there due to fear of persecution. Now Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons has stated he will "disregard" Abrego Garcia's request to go to Costa Rica and instead send him to Liberia, a country he has no connection to. The government has already arranged his removal with Liberia and prepared a "mock itinerary" showing he could be on a flight within five days.
This is retaliation. Abrego Garcia was brought back to face human smuggling charges to which he has pleaded not guilty. ICE claims he's MS-13, which both he and his attorneys deny. Sending him to Liberia rather than honoring his request for Costa Rica serves no legitimate purpose except to punish him for challenging his wrongful deportation.
The government argues that allowing him to designate Costa Rica would let people avoid removal indefinitely. That's absurd. He requested Costa Rica because the administration already violated the law once by sending him to El Salvador. Use your authority to stop this deportation before the April 17 deadline.
