Support the Public Lands Integrity Act

To: Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego

From: A constituent in Kearny, AZ

June 4

Please co-sponsor and vote yes on the Public Lands Integrity Act. This bill, introduced by Senators Bennet, Heinrich, Merkley, and Wyden, would permanently block Congress from using budget reconciliation to sell off federal public lands. Arizona's public lands — the hunting grounds, fishing streams, hiking trails, and open spaces that define this state — deserve that protection. About a year ago, members of Congress tried to quietly sell off public lands to plug budget gaps. Millions of hunters, anglers, ranchers, and hikers pushed back hard enough to kill the proposal, but the threat hasn't gone away. This legislation closes that loophole for good, ensuring that any decision about federal lands goes through a full, deliberative process rather than a budget back door. Arizona's communities and wildlife can't afford to lose that safeguard.
