Reject discriminatory SAVE Act against women voters

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Sessions

From: A constituent in Huntington, TX

September 21

It is deeply concerning that the proposed SAVE Act could potentially disenfranchise millions of married women voters across the nation. The requirement to provide an exact match between current identification and birth certificates unfairly targets women who have changed their names after marriage, a common practice affecting an estimated 90% of married women. This proposed legislation appears to be a thinly veiled attempt at voter suppression targeting a specific demographic. Such discriminatory measures undermine the very foundation of our democracy and the fundamental right to vote. I urge you to reject this misguided legislation that would erect unnecessary barriers to the ballot box for millions of eligible American citizens. We must safeguard and protect the sacred right to vote for all, not create hurdles that selectively impact certain groups. Our nation's strength lies in the ability of all voices to be heard through the democratic process. Please stand up for the rights of women voters and against any measures that could lead to their disenfranchisement.
