This week, an Ohio Representative was found displaying a swastika in his Washington, D.C. office. In the same week, the Department of Homeland Security’s official social media account on X used the term “Remigrate” a word defined by Wikipedia and numerous human rights organizations as far-right code for ethnic cleansing.
These aren’t coincidences. They are symptoms of a party that is flirting with, and increasingly embracing; rhetoric and imagery that belong to the darkest chapters of history.
Republicans often express outrage when anyone dares to call them “Nazis.” Yet week after week, members of the Republican Party and even parts of this administration do and say things that actual Nazis would cheer for. You cannot have it both ways. If you don’t want to be associated with fascism, stop tolerating those who openly echo it.
I am demanding that you speak out publicly, clearly, and unequivocally. Condemn the normalization of far-right extremism within your party. Condemn the use of Nazi symbols and coded racist language. Condemn it not with half-hearted “both sides” rhetoric, but with real conviction and moral clarity.
This is not about partisan politics, it’s about the moral direction of our nation. Silence in the face of creeping authoritarianism is complicity. The time to take a stand is now.
