I am writing as a concerned constituent to respectfully urge you to oppose the nomination of Casey Means for the position of United States Surgeon General.
The Surgeon General serves as the nation’s leading public health voice and must represent the highest standards of medical training, active clinical experience, and credibility within modern evidence-based medicine.
Based on publicly available information, Dr. Means is not currently practicing clinical medicine and does not appear to hold active board certification in a medical specialty. The role of Surgeon General requires deep, current engagement with frontline patient care, established medical science, and the rigorous standards expected of practicing physicians.
The Surgeon General must be able to effectively guide the country through complex health challenges, counter misinformation, and collaborate with leading medical organizations based on shared scientific standards.
I respectfully ask that you carefully review Dr. Means’ current licensure status, board certification history, and recent clinical experience, and weigh whether her background meets the expectations traditionally associated with this critical role.
Thank you for your time and for your service to our state. I appreciate your careful consideration of this important matter.
