Just a quick note to say I don't want a single cent of our tax dollars going to the ballroom.
The East Wing was torn down without consultation with the American people, whose House it is... or with Congress... or with historical preservation monitors... or with environmental experts. And the intended replacement is a room for balls -- which should not be an exclusive feature of any part of the White House to begin with -- to be decorated with Trump's unremittingly tacky sensibility.
To add injury to insult, the project is already way over the initial budget, was awarded on a no-bid contract, and has Trump's inevitable stamp of greed and grift in the general contractor fee he is claiming taxpayers should pay him.
Not a single cent of taxpayer dollars for this boondoggle. If Trump wants to dedicate a portion of the White House for holding his balls, he should pay for it -- and he should then be required to pay for it to be torn down as soon as possible after he has left office.
