Immediate Impeachment Is Required for Racist Abuse of the Presidency
To: Rep. Roy, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn
From: A constituent in Bandera, TX
February 7
The President’s recent racist social media post targeting Barack and Michelle Obama is an unambiguous disgrace to the office of the presidency and a clear demonstration of moral unfitness to govern.
This was not a mistake, a joke, or a lapse in judgment. It was the deliberate amplification of bigoted content by the most powerful public official in the country. When the President uses his platform to promote racism, he is abusing the authority of his office and violating the basic standards of conduct required of a democratic leader.
Silence or delay from Congress is complicity.
I am demanding that you publicly support and initiate impeachment proceedings immediately. The Constitution provides impeachment precisely for moments like this—when a president demonstrates contempt for equal protection, civic norms, and the dignity of the people he is sworn to serve.
This administration has also actively dismantled Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies that exist to protect Americans from systemic discrimination. That rollback, combined with overtly racist conduct, paints a clear picture of an administration hostile to the values of equality, pluralism, and democratic accountability. Congress must act to reinstate DEI protections and restore basic institutional norms.
This President does not represent me, my community, or the foundational ideals of this country. History will remember who chose action and who chose cowardice. I expect you to be on the right side of that record.
Do your job. Defend the Constitution. Act now.
