ProPublica reported that Umar Kremlev, a Russian oligarch with close ties to Vladimir Putin, paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to rent a private island and fund celebrations for Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding in the Bahamas. While President Trump asserted that his son paid the oligarch back, no evidence of repayment has been made public. Public integrity cannot stop at the doorstep of the Oval Office. On September 22, 2026, Republican Senator John Curtis sent a formal letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and Ranking Member Dick Durbin calling for a bipartisan investigation into the use of presidential family relationships for private financial benefit, urging the committee to subpoena both Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden. I urge you to support Senator Curtis's call for a formal Senate Judiciary inquiry and introduce or co-sponsor bipartisan legislation to: 1. Mandate family foreign disclosure: Require the immediate family members (spouses and adult children) of a sitting President and Vice President to file regular, unredacted public disclosures of all foreign income, gifts, and business assets over $10,000. 2. Close the FARA kinship loophole: Amend the Foreign Agents Registration Act to eliminate commercial exemptions for immediate family members of the President when dealing with foreign governments, sovereign wealth funds, or state-owned enterprises. 3.
