Voters sent a message loud and clear: cut the drama and do serious governance. Should you hold officials accountable? Yes, but as quickly as possible without drawing out the drama. Should that be the first thing you do? No, the first thing should be the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Also end all wars, special operations, and any other offensive military action. Schumer's No Kings Act. Jayapal's version of Medicare for All. Fixing Social Security and Medicaid funding. Restoring the Department of Education. Canceling not just student debt but credit card debt, payday loan debt, and the other debt that plagues our not-so-middle and lower classes. After than you should reform the supreme court, demand restitution from the trump family fortune, elon musk, peter thiel, etc, and prosecute Hegsgeth and whatever else you need to do to restore trust and accountability. But don't forget to make a budget, fine and tax multinational companies and billionaires, continue Biden's trust-busting agenda, codify medical privacy (including for family planning, gender and sexual orientation, and miscarriage care), make home and community based services a core and required feature of government insurance, give people with disabilities marriage equity, fund research, protect trans people, restrict guns particularly as regards to school and other mass shootings, give the people a federal initiative and a recall vote, greatly expand checks and balances, enact campaign finance reform, and so on. Almost all of this is broadly supported in a bipartisan manner (unfortunately some people have fallen sway to the christian nationalist attacks on gender self-awareness and that one might be harder) but a great deal of it is what constituents want in red, blue, and purple counties! Cut the drama. Plan for work.
