An Open Letter

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Cuellar, Sen. Cruz

From: A verified voter in Converse, TX

October 28

I’m writing, again, to urge you to reject the Kids Online Safety Act, a perpetual loser of a bill that would put young people at risk. Even though it has changed somewhat since the last time it was shat onto the federal register, KOSA still doesn't do what it claims to do... protect children. It restricts information that kids need about a variety of topics, substituting Big Brother and Big Tech for the choices of their parents. This doesn't create safety; it pushes more vulnerable kids to unsafe information sources, and exposes personal data to hackers, since it will now be stored in a variety of non-secure websites, to "verify someone's identity"... which is now stolen, every time a major data breach happens. Stop this bill. It has the same problems it always has... namely, it thinks that internet security is infinite, and a way to protect parents from having to actively parent their kids.
