An Open Letter

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

The FDA is lax in regulating toxic chemicals in America’s food supply. Companies are not required to report new chemicals they add to food. They aren’t required to produce scientific evidence that their additives are safe. Even when food chemicals are shown to cause disease, the FDA is slow to ban them. Many additives that have been banned around the world are still permitted in our nation’s food. Senator Cory Booker has introduced the Enduring Toxic-Free Food Act. If a companion bill has not been introduced in the House, it should be. Please support such measures with all the vigor you’ve got. Not only would these measures save American lives, they would save hundreds of millions of dollars in health care costs over time.
