You and your congressional colleagues can stop this ICE horror

To: Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

February 7

At this Republican administration’s behest, ICE ‘officers’ shot and killed soccer mom Renee Good and ICU nurse Alex Pretti. Video shows both being shot multiple times while not threatening the ‘officers.’ Meanwhile, inside private, for-profit detention centers, more than 40 people, including children, have died in ICE custody due to lack of medical care and abuse. These are not isolated incidents of poor judgment. None of the ‘officers’ responsible have been held accountable. The fact that abuse is happening behind closed doors by ‘officers’ with zero accountability magnifies the problem. Federal immigration ‘officers’ do not have the authority to execute American citizens during immigration enforcement operations. The ICE ‘officers’ who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and all detention centers staff implicated in detainee deaths, must face criminal prosecution. The pattern of violence suggests escalating systemic problems within DHS that can only be solved with immediate congressional intervention. You and your congressional colleagues can stop this horror. Will you? Or will the needless deaths of American citizens on American soil be your legacy? My wife and I urge you to demand full accountability from ICE and all ‘officers’ under contract for them.
