Addressing Comprehensive Student Loan Reform

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in San Antonio, TX

January 18

Dear Senator, As a constituent, I was writing to respectfully ask you to advocate for comprehensive student loan reform and to advocate for other measures that assist in making the burden of student loans less burdensome for millions of Americans. Tuition rates for colleges and universities continue to rise and the interest rate charged on student loans continue to increase. These two factors combine to place a significant financial burden on many students and their families. The financial burden that results from this situation often restricts the career options available to graduates, causes many young adults to delay buying homes and restricts economic opportunities for many families. I encourage you to advocate for legislation that includes loan forgiveness programs, income driven repayment plans and increased funding for higher education. The purpose of this legislation should be to enable all students to pursue a higher education degree without having to carry too much debt.
