With more than 670 million people experiencing hunger worldwide—including more than 190 million children under age 5 suffering from chronic malnutrition—I ask that you protect and fun key global food security programs in the Farm Bill, including Food for Peace, McGovern-Dole Food for Education, Food for Progress, Farmer-to-Farmer and the Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust. These international programs prevent famine, strengthen the livelihoods of chronically food-insecure communities, support children’s education and make effective use of U.S. sourced agricultural commodities and the expertise of American farmers to improve food security worldwide.
