Hispanic nurses play a vital role in our healthcare system, providing culturally competent care and addressing health disparities in underserved communities. The proposed designation of September 22 as "National Hispanic Nurses Day" recognizes the significant contributions of Hispanic nurses and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) in promoting health equity and advocating for Hispanic communities across the United States. By honoring Hispanic nurses, we raise awareness of their essential work and pave the way for NAHN's continued leadership in advancing healthcare access and quality for all. Hispanic nurses bring much-needed diversity to the nursing profession and have been pivotal in supporting underserved populations, particularly those severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This designation is a meaningful step in acknowledging the challenges faced by Hispanic communities and the dedicated professionals working to overcome them.
