Why Are You Failing Your Constituents?
To: Sen. Young, Rep. Messmer, Sen. Banks
From: A verified voter in Mount Vernon, IN
March 24
I am writing to ask you directly as a constituent and a very concerned American: why are you not standing up to what many of us see as a deeply corrupt administration? Your job is to represent your constituents not to defend or justify every decision coming out of this president or his administration. Yet every time I reach out to your office, I receive canned responses that read like angry and extremely bipartisan talking points, consistently supporting the most dangerous and questionable actions tied to Donald Trump and his administration. That is not representation. That is compliance. What is especially troubling is your apparent willingness to defend actions that many Americans view as reckless and dangerous, including this latest illegal war. Instead of asking hard questions or demanding accountability, you continue to fall in line. That is not leadership. It increasingly feels like you are more concerned with impressing one man along with photo ops, fake outrage, and performative projection vs. standing up for the people who you were elected to serve. That is unacceptable. Let me be very clear: failing to represent your constituents has consequences. I will not support your reelection. I will actively work against it. I will organize, speak out, and encourage others to do the same. The state of Indiana and all Hoosiers deserve leadership grounded in integrity, independence, and accountability not blind allegiance. You were elected to serve the people, not protect power. Right now, you are failing at that responsibility. You should be embarrassed about what you are doing to the people of Indiana and what you are not doing for us. Being involved in politics at its core and foundation per our founding fathers is about creating policies and practices that help the people who you represent and all Americans and make our lives better. That is absolutely not what is happening now. As many historians have pointed out, we are living in a similar time to that of the “gilded age” when we had corrupt leaders and robber barons. And lots of change happened after that period and change will happen again. The American people are speaking up and we are not happy with what we have now.
