I’m writing to ask you what plans you’ll enact in the face of the likely next Presidential regime saying they will gut Social Security, Medicare, vaccine care, and other social services. I work with a vulnerable population that largely relies on Social Security and Medicare for housing and healthcare. If it is gutted, not only is my job at risk, but the people I work with are at risk of losing their homes and their health. As a parent, I am honestly terrified of a vaccine ban and how it will affect my child. I worry about what will happen if Avian flu takes off and the national vaccine supply is unused or destroyed. I worry that my family will be harassed for our Mexican heritage, regardless of the fact that we have been in California for generations. I worry that Trump’s plans for the government and economy will be disastrous for our economy and will trigger a global depression. I have very little hope that these things can be addressed at the national level at this point. I need my state to be ready to fight for me and the people I care about. I need there to be a plan I can support and fight to bring back to the national level. Please consider reopening the discussion on MediCal For All. Please strengthen protections for immigrants and the marginalized. Please double down on protections for all genders, sexualities, and disability statuses. Please find ways to prepare our state for a potential deadly pandemic that already feels like it is lurking in the wings. Give us a platform to fight from.
