Approve Common Sense Gun Laws or We Will Vote You Out

After the tragic school shooting in Georgia, it is clear that comprehensive gun reform measures are urgently needed at the federal level to protect all Americans. Despite being one of the deadliest mass shootings this year, Georgia lacks universal background checks, safe storage laws, or red flag laws that could help prevent such devastating incidents. While the details of how the 14-year-old suspect obtained the AR-platform weapon are still under investigation, Georgia's lax gun laws allowed easy access. The state does not prohibit adults from recklessly providing firearms to minors, and the suspect's father admitted to having hunting guns at home. Common sense gun laws like universal background checks, safe storage requirements, and red flag laws have proven effective in other states at keeping firearms out of the wrong hands. However, a patchwork of state regulations is insufficient - we need nationwide protections. Inaction at the federal level has allowed this epidemic of gun violence to persist for too long. I urge you to prioritize passing robust gun reform legislation to keep our communities safe. My future vote will depend on your commitment to this crucial issue impacting all Americans.
