This Is a Constitutional Emergency. Act Now.
To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla
From: A constituent in Redding, CA
January 6
The United States has carried out military action in Venezuela that the United Nations is now treating as an international crisis. At the same time, the President is on television openly threatening Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, and Greenland.
This is not normal policy disagreement. This is unilateral war making and imperial signaling in real time.
Congress did not authorize regime change in Venezuela. Congress did not authorize threats against multiple sovereign nations. If Congress allows this to continue, it is surrendering its constitutional role.
You must act immediately.
Invoke the War Powers Resolution and demand an immediate halt to all unauthorized military operations.
Cut off funding for any military action not explicitly approved by Congress.
Publicly state that Congress does not consent to wars, regime removal, or territorial coercion ordered by a single individual.
Hold emergency hearings and force sworn testimony on the legal basis for these actions.
Silence is not neutrality. It is permission.
If Congress fails to stop this now, history will record that you watched it happen and chose not to intervene.
Act now.
