Stand up against the Trump administration's campaign to destroy the wind energy industry and the union jobs that come with it. Executive orders halting wind leases, stop-work orders on active construction sites, and over $2.6 billion in lease buyouts are gutting a sector that employs thousands of workers in our communities. This isn't energy policy — it's sabotage.
The Revolution Wind project off Rhode Island is over 90% complete, built by more than 1,000 local union workers, and already delivering power to New England homes. When the administration issued a stop-work order last August, workers like IBEW Local 99 electrician Thomas Kilday were left in limbo heading into the holidays. Federal courts have blocked these orders five times in Rhode Island alone, because they're legally indefensible. The administration's justifications — bird deaths, whale deaths, cancer from turbines — don't hold up in court or in fact.
The Department of Interior claims no jobs were eliminated, but that's insulting to every worker who showed up to a job site and was told to stop. Push back on these lease cancellations, support legislation protecting offshore wind development, and make clear that trading away $2.6 billion in clean energy investment for nothing is not acceptable.
