I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent to urge you to support and co-sponsor articles of impeachment against the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem. The recent actions taken by the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Noem’s leadership have demonstrated a profound dereliction of duty and a dangerous disregard for the rights and safety of American citizens. The tragic and fatal shootings of Renee Good in Minneapolis and, more recently, Alex Pretti, by federal agents are not merely isolated incidents of excessive force; they represent a systemic failure of oversight and accountability that flows directly from the top. Furthermore, the Secretary’s response to these tragedies has been fundamentally incompatible with the public trust required of her office. Reports indicating that the Department of Homeland Security issued false or misleading statements regarding the victims—attempting to label private citizens as threats or terrorists to justify lethal force—suggest a cover-up that warrants immediate congressional intervention. Lying to the American public to shield federal agents from accountability is a betrayal of the Constitution and constitutes a high crime and misdemeanor. Secretary Noem’s tenure has been marked by a pattern of judgment that prioritizes political narrative over the rule of law. We cannot afford to have a DHS Secretary who allows agents to operate with impunity and then weaponizes the agency's press apparatus to smear victims. I implore you to join your colleagues in holding Secretary Noem accountable. The integrity of our federal law enforcement and the safety of our communities depend on it. Please vote to impeach Secretary Noem immediately. I look forward to your public statement on this critical matter.
