Texas: Veto the Ban on THC

To: Gov. Abbott

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

June 5

I urge you to veto Senate Bill 3, as it threatens Texas's $10.3 billion hemp industry, which supports over 50,000 jobs across 8,500 businesses. Since hemp legalization in 2019, this sector has generated $5.5 billion in revenue and $268 million in sales tax revenue. Public opinion is largely in favor of cannabis legalization, with a recent University of Houston poll showing that 62% of Texans support recreational use and 79% support medical use. Enacting SB 3 would contradict this majority and risk thousands of jobs, as a broad ban on THC products could push consumers to unregulated markets, compromising public health and safety. Vetoing SB 3 aligns with economic prudence and reflects the preferences of your constituents. Protect Texas’s economic interests and uphold the freedoms valued by its citizens.
