Call for negotiated solution to establish free Palestinian state
To: V.P. Harris
From: A verified voter in Cedar Park, TX
August 20
The ongoing conflict in Gaza continues to cause immense suffering and loss of innocent lives. There is clear support among voters for the U.S. government to take decisive action by calling for a permanent ceasefire and de-escalation of violence. Over two-thirds of voters across party lines support this stance, with numbers increasing when the release of Israeli hostages is included as a condition. While protecting Israeli security is paramount, indiscriminate bombing and occupation inflict unacceptable civilian casualties. Voters also overwhelmingly endorse placing human rights conditions on military aid to Israel, such as guaranteeing Palestinian refugees' right to return home, committing to peace talks, halting illegal settlement expansions, and pledging to avoid occupying Gaza after the war. There is significant opposition to Israel fully controlling all Palestinian territories. Rather than perpetuating this cycle of violence and humanitarian crisis, the clear will of the American people is to pursue a negotiated solution. Continuing the military campaign against the democratically-elected Palestinian government will only breed further resentment and instability. As our elected representatives, I urge you to listen to the will of your constituents. Call for an immediate ceasefire, apply strict human rights conditionality to military aid, and firmly reject any proposal for Israel to permanently control all Palestinian lands. The time to act is now before more innocent blood is shed.
