Kansans Support Reproductive Freedom — Please Respect the Will of the People
To: Sen. Tyson, Rep. Droge
From: A verified voter in Neodesha, KS
January 20
I am a constituent from Neodesha, and I am writing to urge you to respect the will of Kansas voters and protect reproductive freedom in our state.
In August 2022, Kansans made our voices unmistakably clear. Nearly 60% of voters rejected the constitutional amendment that would have removed protections for abortion rights, affirming that a majority of people in Kansas want abortion care to remain legal and accessible. This was not a partisan result — it reflected a broad coalition of Democrats, Republicans, and independents who believe that deeply personal medical decisions should be made by individuals, their families, and their doctors, not by politicians.
National polling reinforces what Kansans already showed at the ballot box. An Axios poll found that 8 in 10 Americans — including two-thirds of Republicans — agree that the government should not be involved in how someone manages abortion decisions. A Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) poll also found that there is no state where a majority of voters supported overturning Roe v. Wade. Supporters of reproductive rights are the majority, and we are not going anywhere.
As your constituent, I am asking you to:
Oppose any new restrictions on abortion, birth control, IVF, or miscarriage care
Protect patient privacy and medical decision-making
Respect the clear vote of Kansans who said “no” to extremist abortion bans
Reproductive freedom is about dignity, autonomy, and the ability to plan our lives and families. Please do not undermine the will of the people you were elected to serve.
I implore you to stand with Kansas voters and protect reproductive freedom for all Kansans.
