HR722 vote no
To: Rep. Houlahan
From: A constituent in Landenberg, PA
February 6
I’m writing to you about HR722 that was introduced in the House and is currently with the House Committee on the Judiciary. President Trump previously stated that he was leaving the decision on abortion to the individual states. Please, please, please vote against this bill. Close to 20 years ago I tried to get pregnant with my husband. After over a year of failed attempts, we successfully attempted IUI. However, over 12 weeks in to the pregnancy I went in for a quad 4 test and the results were not good. This then led to a whirlwind of visits and scans with specialists to confirm I was 20 weeks pregnant with twins that had severe developmental issues. Spina bifida was the mild development issue for both as they also had their organs developing outside of their body. If they survived the pregnancy, they would live in excruciating pain for hours to days. This is not quality of life. This is not what most people think about when they state how important each baby is. Most people don’t think about those born with extreme disfigurement causing unbearable pain. Had I chosen to keep the pregnancy, I was choosing a life of horrific agony for my children. I chose to be a mother and not let my babies suffer by choosing to terminate the pregnancy and have an abortion. It is situations like mine that people don’t think about and don’t want to think about. I share it with you because it’s important for those representing us to know not just two sides of the position, but all of the gray areas in between. Every time I share my story I cry as I desperately wanted those babies.
