I am writing to you today over concerns with what is happening to our country. As a trans person, I am afraid to leave my house. I am afraid for the wellbeing of my friends and my family. I am afraid for my future as an American Citizen. What is happening right now under President Trump does not reflect what our country stands for, and I will not be silent and stand by to watch my beautiful country go up in flames for the benefit of the 1%.
I am concerned about Elon Musk’s access to the sensitive personal information of citizens. I am concerned about the US leaving the World Health Organization, and the repercussions it could have on the health of our nation. I am concerned about the rights of the trans people across the country who are not only my friends but my family, just for being born the way that they are. I am concerned about the rise of Christian Nationalism, White Supremacy, and authoritarianism. I am concerned about the mistreatment and deportation of my BIPOC brothers and sisters who have spent their lives fighting for their freedom and a chance to have a future in this country. No part of this presidency represents what our country stands for, and I urge you to please keep fighting this fight on our behalves.
I hope you are getting lots of emails and calls today, from people like me who will not stand by and let these individuals take away our freedoms. Donald Trump and Elon Musk do not have the right to strip me of my human rights and my right to exist safely in the country I have called home for my entire life. I will fight for a better tomorrow until the very end. It is my hope that you will stick by me and fight at my side.
