I urge you to publicly oppose President Trump’s executive order restricting mail-in voting and support immediate legislation protecting Americans’ access to mail ballots. The administration’s order reportedly requires the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail ballots only to people on government-verified eligibility lists. That is an extraordinary federal intervention into election administration, which the Constitution leaves primarily to the states. Mail-in voting is essential for seniors, disabled voters, military families, rural voters, working parents, caregivers, students, and Americans who cannot safely or practically vote in person. Any change that risks delaying, rejecting, or blocking lawful ballots should receive serious scrutiny before it is imposed nationwide. I am asking you to do three things: 1. Publicly oppose executive interference in state-run elections. 2. Support legislation protecting access to mail-in voting and ensuring lawful ballots are counted. 3. Demand full transparency from the administration on how this order will be implemented, which voters could be affected, and what safeguards exist to prevent eligible voters from being disenfranchised. No president should be able to use executive power to make it harder for Americans to vote. Protecting ballot access should not depend on party affiliation. It is one of the most basic duties of elected office. Please make clear where you stand.
