Stop Dismantling Our Government and Start Serving the American People

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

June 5

I am writing as one of your constituents to express my deep concern about the direction of this administration and the influence of Russell Vought on federal policy. The American people deserve a government that works for them, protects public institutions, and strengthens the services that millions of citizens rely on every day. Instead, we are witnessing repeated efforts to weaken the federal workforce, undermine independent agencies, and destabilize essential public services. The United States Postal Service continues to face serious financial challenges, yet rather than pursuing thoughtful solutions that preserve reliable service for rural communities, seniors, veterans, and small businesses, too many policymakers appear focused on shrinking government capacity rather than improving it. Americans depend on these services every day, and Congress has a responsibility to ensure they remain strong, reliable, and accessible. Russell Vought has repeatedly championed an agenda that seeks to concentrate executive power and weaken the independence of the professional civil service. Many Americans see these efforts not as reforms, but as attempts to politicize government and remove experienced public servants who provide continuity and expertise regardless of which party controls the White House. Our government should not be transformed into a system where loyalty to a political agenda matters more than competence, experience, and service to the Constitution. Career public servants are not the enemy. They are the people who process benefits, inspect food, protect public health, deliver the mail, support veterans, and keep our government functioning. I want to know what you are doing to stand up for the independence of the civil service, protect essential public services, and ensure that federal agencies remain accountable to the American people rather than political ideologues. Will you oppose efforts that weaken the merit based civil service? Will you defend institutions that Americans rely on every day? Will you put the interests of your constituents ahead of partisan loyalty? The American people deserve answers. I look forward to your response.
