I am wanting to see a lot more progressive action from our democratic leaders. I'd like to see interstate alliances to enhance climate protection goals, universal healthcare goals and women's healthcare, lgbtq progressive agendas made. Interstate compacts could help amplify our power where democratic majorities are held. We need to put muscle into our intentions to make this country move away from it's federal idiocy.
We have large economies that can wrert large pressures on policy and create.ripple effects across the nation and world. Let's link up under our common values to finally get some shit done to save the world from conservative malfeasance. Dear Democratic Leaders,
I am asking you to think beyond the next federal election.
Democratic-majority states have enormous economic and political power, but we too often use that power separately. I believe it is time for states to start acting collectively.
Imagine California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and other Democratic-led states coordinating their efforts on climate protections, health care, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, workers' rights, and the protection of our democratic institutions.
California alone has demonstrated how state policy can influence the entire country. Imagine what we could accomplish if multiple states aligned their laws, economic power, purchasing power, and legal strategies.
I am asking Democratic governors and state legislative leaders to convene a Democratic States Summit and begin building a permanent interstate coalition.
If we cannot always win in Washington, we can still govern—and we can govern together.
I'm tired of us being united in our values but divided in how we use our power.
There are more of us than them. Let's start acting like it.
Don't wait for Washington.
Lead from the states.
Tax the rich.
In solidarity,
