Hearing the news over the last couple of days regarding US bombs dropped by US military in Iran makes me very uncomfortable given my understanding of the role of Congress to determine where, when, and how we engage in war. I believe that the separation of powers and checks and balances between branches is key to making thoughtful, reasoned, and collaborative decisions as a nation. The purpose of this letter is to ask that you, Mr. President, use your influence to restore the balance of the branches. Mr. Cline, step up and reclaim the power and responsibility given to you and your colleagues in the House of Representatives. Senators Warner and Kaine— thank you and keep working. Please do all that you can to work across the isle to reduce the risk of bloating executive power any further.
Thank you.
