This proposal is a terrible idea. Taking away Americans’ right to directly elect U.S. Senators is a step backward, not forward. The 17th Amendment was adopted because allowing state legislatures to choose senators led to corruption and political gridlock. Voters should decide who represents them, not politicians picking other politicians. Please oppose any effort to repeal the 17th Amendment and protect the right of Americans to choose their own senators.
