On June 7th “Meet the Press,” Trump said: “The [2020] election was rigged. It was a dirty election … And it’s happening again right now in California…. they’re cheating on the election. … they’re crooked…. You know that these elections are rigged. … Your elections in this country … are like a third world country. Your elections are crooked.” These are not only delusional sounding statements, they are also a central part of the Trump playbook for undermining faith in elections. We saw this all the way back in his Apprentice days when they didn’t win the Emmys Trump just said it was rigged. Back then we could laugh it off… Now it’s a deadly game as we saw on January 6, 2021. Chaos. Violence. Cops beaten with flag poles and other sharp objects. Brian Sicknick died the next day. Others took their own lives. Is protecting the man who lies and cheats and instigates violence what you want your legacy to be? Trump is desperate to hold power. As the midterms approach, are you on the side of democracy?? HOW ARE YOU PREPARING for any/all bad faith scenarios surrounding elections? Not made up voter fraud which there is no proof of, but how are you preparing for the lies and the violence that Trump could once again bring on? How are YOU going to protect our right to vote in NC? How are YOU preparing to safeguard that which is fundamental in a democracy? STOP the voter suppression. You have a duty to our core values as American citizens and North Carolinians. I URGE YOU TO REMEMBER YOUR OATH TO THE CONSTITUTION. You have the power. Prepare for what is to come. History is watching…what side are you on?
