Vote to keep the federal ban on wild horse slaughter and strip the public land sell-off provision from the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act." Both threats are moving fast — the House begins marking up its annual spending bill in early July, and the Senate bill would sell off 2 to 3 million acres of Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service land within five years, with 250 million acres made eligible for sale. Wild horses lose their habitat the moment that land changes hands.
These animals are not a budget line item. They are part of American heritage, woven into the history of public lands that belong to all of us — not to the highest bidder. Letting the slaughter ban lapse or gutting the ecosystems wild horses depend on are not separate issues. They are two parts of the same betrayal. I expect you to oppose both, loudly and on the record.
