Today, my spouse told me that there was an ICE checkpoint on I-35. This is just under a week after ICE killed a woman in Minnesota for daring to question them. You continually talk about how you're here to protect the border and your constituents... when it comes to ICE, you have to choose. ICE is behaving lawlessly, and every day we see their violence, directed at random American citizens, for no purpose. It is assault under the color of law. ICE furthermore ignores congressional authority. Congress members show up for their legal duty to inspect ICE facilities? They are met with armed guards denying them their duty. You have recently angered their boss... do you think you are safe? Do you think Ted Cruz and John Cornyn will do more than tut tut if ICE turns on you? If you're going to protect your constituents, you must defund ICE. If you're going to protect your office, you must defund ICE. If you're going to protect yourself, you must defund ICE.
