Dear Representative,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to any cuts to Medicaid and to any attempts to impose work requirements on Medicaid recipients. These policies are not only cruel and counterproductive, but they also represent a direct betrayal of the promises made to the American people—by you, by congressional leadership, and by the President himself.
We were promised that there would be no cuts to Medicaid or Medicare and that these essential programs would be protected. However, despite these assurances, proposals are emerging that would significantly undermine Medicaid and penalize vulnerable Americans under the misleading notion of addressing "waste, fraud, and abuse." I am outraged that public servants are prioritizing the wealth of the elite over the health and safety of our citizens. The depravity and cruelty of such proposals are shocking.
Work requirements do not lift people out of poverty. Instead, they lead to individuals—including those who are already working, those with disabilities, and those caring for loved ones—losing their healthcare. These proposals do not save money; they cost lives—lives that could be saved! Eight million people will be at risk of losing their healthcare coverage if these policies are allowed to pass. Voting for these cuts also makes it clear where a member of Congress stands: with the people or against them.
Let me be absolutely clear: if you support these cuts, your re-election is at risk. You were elected to serve the people, not to undermine their access to basic healthcare. Americans are watching. We are organizing, and we will hold every member who supports these cruel and unnecessary policies accountable at the ballot box.
Keep your promises. Reject Medicaid cuts. Reject work requirements. Do the right thing—or prepare to be voted out.
Sincerely,
An angry citizen from North Dakota
