The Twin Cities Boulevard project, replacing Interstate 94, offers a chance to address historical injustices. The 1960s construction of I-94 displaced thousands, particularly Black, Indigenous, and people of color, causing loss of homes, businesses, jobs, and generational wealth. This initiative aims to reclaim freeway land for communities, prioritizing economic opportunity, affordable housing, and improved accessibility. Inspired by successful global highway-to-boulevard transitions, it advocates for reparative justice. Supporting this project promotes community connectivity and reduces reliance on single-occupancy vehicles by providing safer, more sustainable transportation alternatives. Therefore, it is requested to allocate necessary resources and expedite the implementation of the Twin Cities Boulevard project.
