I am writing to express my absolute outrage regarding the ongoing efforts to rewrite the history of January 6th and the blatant disregard for the rule of law by the current administration and its enablers in Congress.
Five years after the attack on our Capitol, it is unconscionable that the mandated January 6th memorial plaque—intended to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Capitol Police—has still not been hung. This is not merely a clerical oversight; it is a violation of the law and a profound insult to the officers who bled to defend the seat of our democracy. I demand that you take immediate action to ensure this plaque is installed without further delay.
Furthermore, I am appalled that government resources and taxpayer dollars are currently being used to host a "January 6th" page on the official White House website that propagates proven lies and attempts to sanitize a violent insurrection. This is the most recorded criminal event in human history, yet the executive branch is using its platform to spread disinformation and erase the reality of what the American people saw with their own eyes.
The use of official government channels to manufacture a false narrative is a dangerous abuse of power. I urge you to:
1. Demand the immediate installation of the January 6th memorial plaque as required by law.
2. Call for the immediate removal of the misinformation page regarding January 6th from the White House website.
3. Publicly denounce the use of taxpayer funds to promote revisionist history regarding the attack on the Capitol.
If Congress continues to allow the truth to be subverted by political convenience, the integrity of our institutions will be permanently compromised. I expect you to uphold your oath to the Constitution by standing for the truth and holding this administration accountable.
I look forward to your prompt response regarding the actions you intend to take.
