Help to release Maryam Tahmasebi, Eissa Hashemi & their son from ICE

To: Sen. Schiff, Rep. Bera, Sen. Padilla

From: A verified voter in Sacramento, CA

October 14

I am writing to ask you to call for the immediate release of Maryam Tahmasebi, Eissa Hashemi, and their teenage son, who have been held in ICE detention since April 2026. Maryam and Eissa are college professors. They are lawful permanent residents who have lived in California for 12 years, and none of them has a criminal record. The government moved to revoke their green cards because of who Eissa's mother is — not because of anything they did. For six months the family has been held apart, in Dilley and Pearsall, Texas. When they asked to leave the country voluntarily, the government opposed it. Their son is spending his high school years in detention. Maryam described what her family has endured in The Nation: https://freeprofsfamily.com/op-ed/ Please contact DHS and the State Department, speak out publicly about this case, and urge them to release this family now.
