Support Social Security Fairness Act - Repeal WEP/GPO

To: Rep. Landsman, Sen. Brown, Sen. Vance

From: A constituent in Springboro, OH

July 27, 2024

The Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 seeks to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) in current Social Security laws. These provisions reduce or eliminate Social Security benefits for millions of public sector retirees who earned pensions from employment not covered by Social Security. Repealing the WEP and GPO would restore fairness and ensure these retirees, including many federal government retirees, receive the full Social Security benefits they earned and paid for throughout their careers. Supporting this bill upholds principles of equity and prevents the unfair penalization of public servants solely due to their occupations who were penalized for working long enough to earn a pension while also working long enough to earn Social Security benefits. I would greatly appreciate your support.
