I wrote two short days ago regarding DHS. As you know, the situation has drastically changed. I will write several letters today and this one is regarding the investigation of the “agent” shooting. I put this term in quotes because I’m not sure these people have the training or professionalism to be called agents – their actions do not demonstrate these qualities. Yesterday, 24 Jan 2026, a DHS employee (or two) shot and killed a civilian. This administration now claims DHS will conduct the investigation. I STRONLY DISAGREE – DHS has a DIRECT conflict of interest and cannot reasonably conduct this investigation and furthermore, DHS does not have the expertise – it’s not part of their mission. Part of the FBI mission is to conduct these investigations and the FBI has previously done so. There is no justification to block the FBI and BCA and DHS has already blocked MN investigators from the scene. They even refused State investigators from the scene after a federal judge ordered them to allow access. My questions are 1. Will you immediately call for the FBI and BCA to conduct this investigation? 2. Will you insist that DHS turn over and preserve any and ALL evidence they have removed from the scene and 3. Will you publicly call for DHS to cooperate with this investigation? Should be easy to respond --- I await your prompt answer.
